28 members were at 14 parkruns at the weekend, an average of 2 per park run, though of course it doesn't work out like that as fourteen of them were among the 350 at Fountains Abbey. The fastest of those was Rob Burn, 40th in 22.27, not far off his target 80% on effort score. Bronwyn Mayo wasn't far behind, 43rd, and 5th lady in 22.37 with Jason McLaughlin 106th in 25.58. Steve Strong had equal PB 28.40, with Stuart Hill 28.46, Paul Chapman, pushing Euan Harrison in his wheelchair, 29.51. Liz Wordsworth 30.08, closely followed by Chris Wordsworth, 30.23. Andy Newing took 31.15, Laura Till PB 33.33, Christine Burn 34.13, Paul Adams 35.45, Gillian Crane 35.56 and Ian Codling, now 83, with his various ailments and injuries, doing well in 54.16.
At Millfield, Matt Jones was a good 3rd out of 174, 76% effort, in 19.05, Lorraine Hiles 45th in 24.54 and Hugh Jenyns 33.29. Out of the 123 at Northallerton, Pete Jackson took 29.23, Phillip Craig 33.25 and Ellen Brookes 37.26. At Thorp Perrow (87), Anna Whitham took 27.15 and Allison Whiteley and Craig Atherton 64.04.  A field of 243 were at Graves, where Gary Wilkinson came 14th in 20.59, Helen Ashworth at Cinder Track, Whitby was 17th out of 42, and 3rd lady, in 26.41, Annie Hedger at Heslington came 113th out of 238 in 26.24, at North Yorkshire Water Park Martin Loveridge was 8th out of 89 in 22.22 and perhaps the lowest field of the day was at Brotton where the total entry was 11 and Nicky Hawkes came 6th, 1st lady, in 31.04.
Another reminder that Thirsk 10 is on March 17th 2024 with a 10 am start. Full details of that, the Wheelchair race and the Fun run can be found on the club's website.
