The race starts and finishes at the Castleton Show, a great little show with all the usual exhibitions and competitions you would expect. Starting out facing into the wind, the race climbs up Dibble Bridge Bank, out towards Hob Hole. There are a series of fast descents and climbs dipping into (dry!) fords, before reaching the village of Westerdale. As you work back towards the show field a long climb looms, fortunately the route veers left back towards the showground, treating the racers to a long decent to the finish.
There was brilliant support from marshals (including Sarah Harrison and Paul Chapman) all the way round, helping everyone safely negotiate the series of cattle grids on route. Another great event from the organisers. Thirsk and Sowerby had an excellent race with Esther finishing 2nd lady (44:39), Ashley wining M50 (42:32) and Joe finishing 1st overall (37:50).
For 2027, competitors should be advised that show does not accept Euros for race entry fees…!!
