At 8am on Saturday 23rd March, 8 Harriers started the Hardmoors 55, a 55 mile race along the Cleveland Way from Guisborough to Helmsley. Conditions were dry, but very windy, making the hilly first 25 miles very challenging. Paul Peacock pulled away from the other Harriers, finishing 16th overall in 9h 37mins.
The next Harriers were all competing in the race for the first time, going much further than they had ever done before. Richard Grant, Joe Poole, Kim Wilkinson and Adam Harper-Walker all finished with impressive times of 11 to 12 hours. Bronwyn Mayo, one of our coaches, and Anna Whitham finished not long after, with times of 12h 20mins and 12h 27mins respectively. Big congratulations to everyone on your completions.
Kirsty Naylor bravely ran through the pain of her injury, managing to get further than she was expecting, completing 39 miles in 11.5 hours, stopping at Snek Yate. Our treasurer, Lucy Sillars, participated in the relay, finishing her leg at the top of a very blowy Roseberry Topping. Well done to you both.
Many other Harriers were involved, with Phil Craig marshalling at Osmotherley, Josh, Beth, Lucy, Paul C, Rose, Andreas, Hannah, Duncan and (any others I've forgotten!) cheering and running alongside at various parts of the course. Thank you to everyone who supported.
