Thirty-four members were among the 138 runners who completed the brutal Hooded Horse 10k at the weekend, raising funds to the memory of Ben Campbell, who lost his life at a young age to cancer.

The day was quite kind, but the course is tough, taking in the White Horse Bank and Hood Hill, from where the race devises its name, with loads of steep ascents and descents.

Congratulations to all who completed the event, and especially to Joe Martlew, who finished 2nd in a time of 48.40.  A superb result.  Richard Grant came 12th in 52.41, with Paul Peacock not far behind, 13th, in  53.12.  Ken Wood was next, 25th in 59.10 with Chris Coates 29th in 60.37.  Trudy Morrice got the prize for 3rd lady, 33rd overall in 61.00, with Dave Kavanagh, 37th in 61.44.  Rob Burn took 62.04, Brett Edgeworth in 62.33, Alan Simpson 64.41, Louise Mayfield 68.06, Andrew Pollard 68.49,

Numbers continue to be high at the Fountains Abbey park run, 484 this week, with Greg MacDonald recording the fastest time, 18.50.  Others were Esther Harrison, Mike Cropper, Laura Till, (PB 31.26), Nicky Hawkes, Gillian Crane and Ian Codling.  Stuart Waters was fastest club member at Millfield, 25th out of 226 in PB 23.41, accompanied by Clare Gwillam, Faith Coy, Natalie Lyth and Rob Lickley.  Pete Jackson and Sara Armitage, (PB 29,22) were among the 104 at Northallerton – was it a warm up for the Hooded Horse? Andy Newing tried Prudhoe Riverside (174), Trish Radford was at the flat Cinder Track, Whitby, event (131 runners), Martyn Coy at the Peter Pan run, (321), Richard and Tessa Grant, another pair doing a warm up for the next day, at South Shields (195), and Bronwyn Mayo at the Jamaica Pond event (458) – is she collecting another letter for her park run alphabet list?  And Annie Hedger was at Amsterdamse Bos (200).
