About 40 members were busy last weekend taking part in the Cleveland Way Relays, beginning in Filey at 5am and ending in Helmsley, a total of about 110 miles. Thanks to Marc Davies and Rosie Gatenby for arranging the two teams, and allotting to each member a distance and rate of difficulty which suited them. The distances ranged from about 4 miles to more than 10 miles and runners arrived with some trepidation as the forecast was not good. In the eventuality, the weather was not too bad, though there were one or two showers, –  the lightening on the east coast happened well after the start and runners were over the moors by then (some people did have a chance to try to spot dolphins!). The “carrot at the end of the stick” was the thought of having fish and chips in Helmsley at the finish, for those with a later start time, in an event much enjoyed by everyone! Thanks to those involved in getting runners to their appropriate starting place – and collecting them after they'd run.

Four members were at the new Kirkby Fleetham Trail Race 10k, actually a bit more than 10k! The first 3 miles over long grass, was hard going, but generally the race was enjoyed by them all, and cakes at the end were available for those who wanted them. Mike Lowther came 17th out of 74 in 52.49, Tracey Lowther 34th in 61.14, Kelly Grieve 37th in 61.49 and Phillip Craig 60th in 72.03.
