🏃♀️🏃♂️ TaSH parkrun travels! 💙💛
A brilliant 34 Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers took on parkruns at 12 different locations this weekend, from our local events at Millfield and Northallerton to the Channel Islands — and even Germany!
⭐ Performance of the week goes to Isaac Myer, who was not only our fastest Harrier in 18:50, but also crossed the line 1st overall at Marshall Drive parkrun in Brotton. Mike Cropper was next quickest with 21:53 at Fountains Abbey, followed by Bronwyn Mayo in 22:25 at Northallerton and Laura Wilson in 23:10.
🏠 Millfield had our biggest TaSH turnout with 11 Harriers: Rob Burn (24:00), Mike Sanders (24:56), Sharon Emmott (27:12), Evie Rawlings (29:00), Josie Burn (30:21), Catherine Cundy (34:10), Christine Burn (34:48), Tessa Grant (47:28), Kerry Morgan (47:28), Richard Grant (47:29) and Ian Codling (55:34).
Just up the road at Northallerton, eight more blue-and-yellow vests were on show: Bronwyn Mayo (22:25), Laura Wilson (23:10), Catherine Knott (25:56), Julia Harland (27:40), Phillip Craig (28:24), Vanessa Arthur (29:14), Duncan Fothergill (30:15) and Luke Barletta (31:01).
Mike Cropper (21:53), Joanne Hunt (31:02), Ian Ord (32:56) and Sara Ramon Moore (33:42) enjoyed the spectacular surroundings of Fountains Abbey, while Natalie Lyth (30:49) and David Lyth (31:51) headed to The Demesnes in Barnard Castle.
Elsewhere, Nicky Hawkes (30:39) was at Sewerby, Bev Davies (38:35) and Marc Davies (38:36) ran at Rising Sun, and David Palmer (33:43) tackled the beautiful single-lap forest and coastal course at Newborough Forest on Anglesey.
The travelling continued with Lazaro Mwandigha (25:16) at Brook Leys near Cambridge who completed the course with wife Maria who took part in the Beginners to 5k 2026 course. Paul Adams (45:05) was beside the sea at Seaford Beach in East Sussex, and Amanda Johnson (38:48) taking TaSH across the water to Guernsey parkrun at Pembroke Bay.
🌍 But the parkrun tourist of the week has to be Pete Jackson, who travelled to Dreiländergarten parkrun in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Around 600 miles from Thirsk as the crow flies, it sits right on the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland — not a bad distance to travel for a Saturday morning 5k! 🇩🇪🇫🇷🇨🇭
34 Harriers • 12 parkruns • 3 countries • 1 first finisher • plenty of blue and yellow on tour! 💙💛
