A race report from Brett Edgeworth from sunny Devon…
On a glorious summer evening just after 6:30pm, the River Yealm Regatta run an annual 5 mile race on a challenging but very scenic route. There are far views out to Plymouth Sound and Cornwall on this section of the South West Costal Path. The route starts and finishes at the local pub onto traffic free roads and bridal path. The flat first half mile then becomes a series of easy slight climbs onto the costal path and continues climbing until it joins the NT car park at about 3 miles. Then there is a flat road section that gives way into a road descent back to the pub. I didn’t manage to catch all the Juniors who had a 5 minute head start but I was the first TASH home in just over 40 minutes. There is no official timing or publish finishers list but for £2 it is worth every penny.
