Number 48 virtual club championship race has now been and gone. I keep asking this question!! How many have you taken part in all 48 to date?
Almost 100 of you took part and what worked exceptionally well this year was selecting the teams early which created a lot of movement on tracks around Hood Hill. Not just runners but walkers, bikers, horses and whatever else. Once we’d cut them back early on, the trails were used a lot more, kept more open and easy and faster to run on. The down side to this is that injuries and holidays can leave teams short of numbers which is a little sad for the rest of the team. Next year we could possibly keep a group in reserve to fill in gaps and keep teams even.
The presentation evening at “our house” only just managed to stay dry but it did. Almost 100 people turned out and if you’d not heard, Fiji were the winning team. It was a little damp under foot but we all joined in and trotted around the field. It was great to see so many children taking part and everyone joining in. It seems kids will do anything for a pizza but as soon as they arrived all the grown ups stopped too. The course took around a week to set up and we managed to clear all in around 5 minutes.
To keep you up to date on the crocus bulb donations. Up until last night the on line and donations on the night stand at around £350. To make a real splash of colour next spring we could do with a little more so please keep your donations coming. Thanks everyone so far. It’s going to be another challenge planting them all and hopefully we can be doing this soon. I’m thinking of around 11 patches of around 500 bulbs in each in between each of the trees near the entrance. Yellow and blue.
Keep smiling guys. See you soon, Rob
