Our championship races are now all set for 2024. We love racing and are passionate about seeing as many members take part as possible. The season starts off with the 8km Captain Cook’s Fell Race on New Year’s Day and finishes at the Summerhill XC in December with a chance to settle final places shoulder to shoulder. Members can choose from several free events: a Park Run at the Thorp Perrow Arboretum and three virtual races. The club also subsidizes entry into the Harrogate League (£10 for the series) and Cross Country races (free to members). Those who choose wisely can complete their 10 qualifying races for just a tenner! Of course you can also do all 18 races and we have picked out some great venues including the mixed terrain BeckBusters 10k in Bishop Wilton and the scenic James Herriot Trail Run in Wensleydale. The fell devotees can test their mettle on the Bilsdale hills at the Cock Howe Fell Race, while sprinters and easy pacers alike will enjoy the Spring Coast 5k road race in Redcar.  Three of our club races are now included: Hooded Horse 10k (TaSH will take over in 2025), Sessay Swift and the Gormire Gamble. The selection of races reflect members’ choices in the survey sent out earlier in the year. Many thanks to all who responded. If your race wasn’t included don’t worry we have penciled some in for future years. Thanks to Matt Jones for looking after the series for the last few years, those are quite literally big shoes for me to fill. Hope to see you all at the start line. Alan Simpson
