The busy summer Dave Parry fell race season drew to a close as the evenings started to draw in, where it began, at Fryup, with the tough Fryup Frazzler.  Although it was shorter than the earlier one, it was far from easy, just under 6 miles, with 1400 feet of ascent, conditions were ideal for running and almost 80 runners took part.  First club member was in form Esther Harrison, 30th, and 3rd Open lady, in 55.53, with Gary Wilkinson – another in great form – 32nd in 58.43.  Trudy Morrice rounded off her successful season with her latest F50 win, 38th in 62.06, with Kim Wilkinson 44th in 63.43, Marc Davies 50th in 64.59, Lorraine Hiles 53rd, and 2nd F55, in 65.39, Kirsty Naylor 3rd F40 in 72.12, just ahead of Rosamund Kruger, 72.13.  Sara Armitage, getting a taste of fell racing, took 85.23 and the ladies won 1st and 3rd team prizes again. After a very productive summer, no doubt the winter season will soon be upon us!

A run of a completely opposite type was the Sutton Park 10k, in the lovely village of Sutton on Forest, multi-terrain with quite a bit of road, passing through woodlands and fields, and taking in the old World War Two airfield, ie very flat!  Paul Peacock finished an excellent 8th in a time of 38.24, well below the target time of 40 minutes which many runners aim for.  New members, Kelly Grieve and Steve Strong, tried their hands at 10k running, with Kelly taking a very creditable 56.59 and Steve 61.46.

Scotland was the venue for the well travelled Gary Wilkinson, the Scottish Half Marathon to be exact, which began just outside Edinburgh and along the magnificent East Lothian Coast before finishing along the final furlong of Mussleburgh, Scotland's oldest racecourse.  Gary Finished 47th out of a field of 3054 in a superb PB Half Marathon time of 1.29.31.  All in all, a very satisfactory day!  Whilst he was up there, Gary took in the Queens Park parkrun the previous day, in Glasgow, finishing 11th out of 161 in 21.29.

Other park runners were more local, at Fountains Abbey (8), Northallerton, where Esther Harrison was 1st lady in 22.18, Millfield, with Thomas Gwillam, 21.04, and Kim Werner, 34.20, both achieving PBs, and Bronwyn Mayo trying out the Cinder Track, Whitby, event, 26th, and 4th F, out of 168.
