Harriers Weekly Training w/c 25th September 2022
Sunday 25th September. Sutton Park 10k. 11am start. This is your next Club championship race. Sutton Park committee have sent out two pages of instructions but there is not one line to tell you about the course. It’s lots of years ago since I last ran it but I do know that there are one or two trail bits, two or three twists and turns and the majority, if not all of the course is flat. Like all 10ks it will start to hurt somewhere between 6 and 8k and will continue to the finish. Pace judgement and even pace will always result in running your best times. I shouldn’t have to say this but you need to warm up in good time and be hydrated before you start. Winter Training: from now on you get a choice, indoor or outdoor training. If coming to the school there is a security entry system so you must arrive at the times stated. Any later than 7pm there will be nobody to let you in. You must wear clean foot wear, leave your gardening shoes at home.
Please sign in as you arrive for training- Monday 26th September, 6.45 for 7pm Indoor training in the school gym – Drills, core work and conditioning. Outdoor at Sowerby Gateway- Warm ups, light core work and recover run/ short intervals.
Wednesday 28th Sept, 6.45 for 7pm @ Indoor School Sports Hall – Drills, core work and intensive speed intervals/ lung busters. Outdoor Sowerby Gateway Warms ups, light core work and long intervals to include speed work up to 24 minutes.
We have not yet done a full winter of inside and outside training side by side since we have joined the Gateway. We are still learning so let’s see how it goes.. All training sessions are structured and are carried out to complement one another. You can change from inside to outside and still be able to join in without feeling out of place. Try them all if you wish. All speed sessions are based on a 10k training program, you train at the intensity you wish. There are plenty of social runs within harriers throughout the week to adjust and alter your training to suit. Rob
