Last Wednesday evening saw a good turnout for the monthly club time trial, this month taking place at Kilburn White Horse. Time trials are a personal challenge where club members aim to better their previous time – a feat which is additionally challenging in the current warm summer weather! But it was a beautiful evening to be up on the bank and there were plenty of smiling faces at the finish!
Osmotherley Show Fell Race: Sarah Harrison, Kirsty Naylor, Lucy Sillars, Trudy Morrice, Kelly Grieve, Paul Chapman, Lorraine Hiles, Ashley Dodgson, Sarah Fairhurst and Joe Martlew

On Saturday a number of hardy harriers took part in the Osmotherley Show Fell Race, a 5.5mile dash from Thimbleby up to the trig point on Black Hambleton and back. The resilient runners were rewarded for the uphill slog by stunning views across the North York Moors, before enjoying an exhilarating descent back down to the showground. Full results yet to be revealed – keep an eye on Let’s Run’s Facebook page!
Sunday turned out to be a day for city centre 10K’s with TaSH members running at both the York and Darlington races. A full dozen harriers turned out to run the fast, flat route through York’s historic streets: Isaac Myer was the first harrier to finish in a time of 39:21, followed by Adam Harper-Walker 40:02, Andy Butcher 48:19, Clare Tempest 53:00, Anna Jones 53:01, Paula Adams 1:01:33, Sara Armitage 1:03:24, Alison Butcher 1:09:55, Joanne Hunt 1:13:25, Christina Leach 1:18:37 and Hannah Dalby 1:28:33.

Meanwhile, 50 miles north, Paul Atkinson was the first of the half dozen Harriers at Darlington to finish in a time of 48:35, followed by Laura Wilson in 49:06, Ruth Pollard 52:11 and Blair Wallace 49:25. Kirsty Naylor and Joe Joyce finished nicely under the hour in 55:30 – particular congratulations to Joe for achieving this time after a gruelling 6 months of returning to running following surgery – inspirational perseverance!

In between (geographically) the 10k races, a baker’s dozen of harriers turned out to support the 10th Thirsk & Sowerby Flatts Festival and to assist with the Children’s Fun Run! Special thanks go to Lorraine Hiles, our Fun Run organiser, and to Lucy Sillars for arranging for the fabulous TaSH water bottles as prizes. If you saw us at the Festival and fancy trying a session, do come down and join us at the Sowerby Sports Village Monday or Wednesday at 6.45pm. Your first two sessions are free! (And membership’s a bargain anyway at £35 a year!)
