The club championship continued at the wet weekend with the Dalesrunner 20k, a testing course with some spectacular ridge running and fast, technical descents – which appealed to the fell running fraternity! A dozen harriers were among the field of 139 and Richard Grant was first club finisher, 13th in 1.45.23, with Dan Garthwaite 15th in 1.48.37, Joe Argo 20th in 1.50.22, Andreas Kruger 28th in 1.56.20, Alan Simpson 50th in 2.06.28, Bronwyn Mayo 52nd in 2.06.57 (Bronwyn did the Dalesrunner 30 a few weeks ago, coming 21st, and 3rd lady, in 3.39.47) Marc Davies 53rd, and 2nd M60, in 2.07.20, just pipping Rosamund Kruger, 54th in 2.07.22, Kirsty Naylor 64th in 2.12.53, Joe Joyce 75th in 2.17.01, Duncan Fothergill 87th in 2.22.49 and Ruth Pollard 125th in 2.27.29.

Another club championship event, the Osmotherley Show Fell Race took place the previous weekend, Race 10 of the Dave Parry Summer Series with 71 entrants over a 6 mile course through the private Thimbleby Estate.  A long ascent to Square Corner took runners on to the Cleveland way and the high point of 400m with a descent to finish on the showfield. Heavy rain beforehand just stopped for the race, leaving very muddy conditions underfoot, and a cold feel to the air. There were some outstanding results from the race with 4 Harriers in the top 10, Tom Levi a superb winner in 42.28, Freddy Wharton 5th, and 1st MU23, in 46.19, Andrew Price 6th, and 2nd M40, in 46.32, Paul Peacock 8th, and 2nd M55, in 47.43. Gary Wilkinson came 17th in 52.03, Andreas Kruger 28th in 54.55, Alan Simpson 32nd, and 2nd M50, in 55.39, Trudy Morrice 36th, 1st F50, in 56.44 and Cameron Balmain 37th, and 2nd MU23, in 57.24.  Rosamund Kruger took 59.20, Lorraine Hiles 44th, and 1st F55, in 59.40, Gavin Coventry 61.10, Marc Davies 62.13, Helen Ashworth 63.09, Pedro Carrasco 67.11, Hilary Coventry 67.32, Lucy Sillars 70.09, Lynne Jackson 75.00, Janet Balmain 75.43 and Beth Haggath 87.44.
